Postpartum Client Services

Postpartum care support is vital for the mother, child, and their families. A gap that we at Sierra Madre Midwifery see when caring for our birthing mothers is support after the new addition to the family. To help create a well rounded birthing experience we’ve added a group of postpartum caregivers to bring nurturing, creative, and safe services to help be the “village” you need. Each postpartum caregiver is trained and approved by Sierra Madre Midwifery!

Services Offered

*All services listed below can be discussed individually or as one complete package. If interested please let your midwife know*

Housekeeping: Having a clean space while caring for a new baby creates a calm environment for the entire family. Postpartum caregivers can assist with housekeeping tasks that include picking up discarded items, dusting surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, dishes, and wiping down bathrooms.

Laundry: Caregivers can help by ensuring your growing family has clean clothes for you, your family, and your new addition.

Grocery Shopping & Cooking: During postpartum you need the healthiest, most nutritious meals possible to maintain your strength so you can care for your newest addition to the family. We can help with meal planning, the preparation, and we can accommodate most specialized diets.

Caring for other Children: While your newborn may be your immediate focus, other children in the home will still need care. Caregivers can help care for multiple children during the time of care.

Infant Care: We know access to nearby respite care is vital so you can catch up on much-needed rest while still having the peace of mind that your infant is safe, healthy, and happy. We can help change your infant’s diapers and watch them as they sleep for added assurance. Plus, if you are recovering from surgery, we can pick them up and bring them right to you to mitigate pain.

Companionship: When family and friends cannot visit during this time, companionship is vital to your mental and emotional health, to:

o   Provide conversation and a listening ear;

o   Help ease any fears of being a new parent or being alone with a newborn;

o   Assist with positioning for breastfeeding or bottle-feeding; and

o   Offer an extra set of hands to provide you with important items for added comfort.
